President and CEO of Valkyrie Enterprises, Gary Lisota has been leading and managing this veteran-owned small business since its inception in June 2007. A graduate of Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Gary began his professional career as Surface Warfare Officer in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War era. There he honed technical specialties which included surface to air missile systems/radars and marine propulsion and auxiliary systems. Gary finished his active duty service as a propulsion plant examiner for the Commander-in-Chief, U.S. Pacific Fleet. Completing service in the Naval Reserve, Gary worked in the Office of the Naval Research in the technology transfer control area.
Transition was quick for Gary as he immediately began working for corporate America. Paralleling his earlier efforts, he managed Navy support contracts for SEACOR in Washington, D.C. In September 1981, Gary joined AMSEC, Inc. as a plankowner, and it was there that he began a career that spanned over 25 years. Starting as the Director of Corporate Marketing and finishing as the President and CEO, Gary wove a career in the defense contracting world that covered strategic planning, business development, and line management. While COO from 1993 to 2004, AMSEC grew from $42M to $460M. Acquiring six companies during that timeframe, Gary led the organization to be the market leader in total ship, full-service, in-service engineering, technical, and logistics support for U.S. Navy aircraft carriers and surface ships, while carrying an internal growth rate of over 18%. From February 2004 to December 2006, Gary served as President and CEO and enjoyed responsibility for all facets of operations, administration, and financial performance of AMSEC’s $470M engineering, technical, and logistics services firm with over 4600 employees at 62 locations worldwide.
In June 2007 Gary Lisota created Valkyrie Enterprises, LLC. This defense contracting company has strategically benefited from the breadth and depth of Gary’s executive experience, while tactically performing at a rate not normally enjoyed by new businesses. In its first four years, Gary has grown Valkyrie Enterprises into a $20M+ company, which focuses on supporting the U.S. warfighter in areas of acquisition, readiness, and modernization.
