HR Committee - NEW LOCATION

The VSRA Human Resources Committee meets the first (1st) Wednesday of each month at 11am in the Norfolk offices of Willcox Savage - 22nd floor, 440 Monticello Avenue, Suite 2200, Norfolk, VA.  The entrance to the parking garage is on Charlotte Street.  PARKING IS FREE and is in the same building as Willcox Savage - Please bring your parking stubs with you to be validated.

This is perfect for workers who are going to attend the NBPI certification class or who need to retake the course/exam.

OSHA-VSRA Partnership Meeting

The next quarterly meeting will be Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. at Colonna’s Shipyard, 400 E. Indian River Road, Norfolk, VA 23523. 

Angelo Costa, OSHA local representative and VSRA/OSHA Partnership co-chairs, Shane Bangert & Tom Binner will be present at the meeting to respond to any specific questions you may have.

VSRA General Membership Luncheon Meeting

VSRA Board of Directors meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month, followed by a lunch meeting with the general membership. The guest speaker for March 20, 2012, Sentator Frank Wagner will be providing the annual update on the legislative session. The Chairman of the VSRA Board and the VSRA committee chairs report to the general membership at the monthly meeting, followed by a guest speaker's presentation. Each member company may have its designated representatives present at the general membership monthly luncheon meeting and is welcome to invite company guests.

NAVSEA Basic Paint Inspector Course (Feb 27-Mar 2, 2012)

The course consists of 4 days of classroom and practical "Hands-on" training. Day 5 consists of practical examinations.

OSHA 5400 Train the Trainer (Feb 28-Mar2)

This course is designed for personnel in the private sector interested in teaching the 10 and 30 hour maritime safety and health outreach program to their employees and other interested groups. Special emphasis is placed on those topics that are required in the 10 and 30 hr programs as well as on those that are the most hazardous, using OSHA standards as a guide. Course participants are briefed on effective instructional approaches and the effective use of visual aids and handouts. This course allows the student to become a trainer in the Outreach Program and to conduct 10 and 30 hour maritime classes in Shipyard Employment, Marine Terminals, and Long shoring and to issue cards to participants after verifying course completion.2.6 CEU’s.
