As a native of South Hampton Roads, Mark Jones truly loves living and working in one of the finest areas in the country. Mark is happily married to the former Debbie Lee Osborne of Crewe, Virginia. Mark and Debbie have been blessed with two wonderful children. Mark graduated from Frank. W. Cox High School and earned a B.A. in Economics from Hampden-Sydney College in 1983.
Mark is currently serving as the President for Q.E.D. Systems, Inc (QED), a nationwide engineering and technical services firm that his parents, Bob and Sue Jones, founded in 1969. Under Mark’s leadership over the past 29 years, QED has continued its reputation for excellence by providing the Navy with high quality, cost-effective services and support.
Although his job with QED keeps him extremely busy, Mark is carrying on the family tradition of giving back to the community. He has served in various capacities with United Way of South Hampton Roads over the past fourteen years, including 2011 Board of Directors Chair, 2008 Regional Campaign Chair, Alexis De Tocqueville Society Cabinet Member, Virginia Beach Campaign Chair and as a member of the Board of Directors. He serves as a member of St. Mary’s Home for Disabled Children Embrace Capital and Endowment Campaign and previously served on their Advance Gift Committee. Additionally, he serves as a member of Edmarc Hospice for Children’s Foundation, as well as their Endowment and Program Campaign.
Mark is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the American Society of Naval Engineers, the American Maritime Modernization Association, Virginia Beach Vision, and serves on the Virginia Ship Repair Association Board of Directors. His professional accomplishments include the Nunn-Perry Award (2009, 2005 & 2003), Henry Ford Health Systems Award for Innovative Technology, a Partners-In-Education Award at Old Donation Center, and selection as one of the “Top 40 Under 40” in Hampton Roads.
