The Virginia Ship Repair Association (VSRA) is a regional association representing companies engaged in, or supporting, the ship repair industry in Virginia and the Mid-Atlantic region. Our mission is to focus and coordinate member resources on issues, challenges, and opportunities facing the ship repair industry in Virginia and across the nation. The Virginia Ship Repair Association has a rich History, with its origin beginning in 1979.
VSRA services its members by:
- Making their concerns known to federal, state, and local agencies;
- Providing information affecting the industry;
- Coordinating industry workforce development programs and member-driven training courses;
- Fostering the commercial welfare of its members.
VSRA represents over 300 member companies whose combined businesses have an economic impact in the Hampton Roads area on more than 79,000 jobs, $10.9 billion in economic impact, and $6.2 billion in employee earnings and benefits.
VSRA Board of Directors meetings are held every odd month followed by a lunch meeting with the General Membership. The lunch meetings with the General Membership are held every month. The Chairman of the VSRA Board and the VSRA Committee Chairs report to the General Membership at the monthly meeting.
VSRA has a very active Committee structure, most of which hold monthly meetings.

The VSRA Chairman of the Board appoints Committee Chairs. Standing committee meetings are open to all members. Member companies are strongly encouraged to participate in committee meetings and activities. Typically, committee members are men and women whose experience relates to the committees on which they serve; therefore, they bring a great deal of knowledge and best practices to the table to share with others and help improve our industry. The committees meet either monthly or bi-monthly, and provide a forum for our Members to discuss mutual concerns, hear from industry experts, and work with a variety of agencies to address issues.
Each VSRA company, once approved by the Board of Directors, receives Members Only access to the private side of the association website where the following can be viewed:
- Minutes of the General Membership meetings
- Minutes of standing committee meetings
- Training Opportunities and Discounts
- Information about other member companies
- Other important industry-related information
- VSRA Newsletter
New Members may request to receive a copy of the Association Bylaws. If desired, you can also expand your Company's listing within the VSRA website by providing your address, phone & fax numbers, email & web addresses, a description of your business, and a primary point of contact. This information will be visible to other VSRA Members, some of whom may be searching for the services you provide!
To join VSRA, an application form must be submitted to the VSRA office, along with a one-time application fee of $250.00. Annual membership dues are based upon the membership category of the company.
Dues are prorated for the year from the date membership is approved by the VSRA Board of Directors and billed on that date for the remainder of the year in which membership is approved. In addition to the dues, monthly lunch meeting expenses are billed annually in conjunction with the dues, and are shared equally by the entire membership (including non-attending companies).
