Paul has over 30 years of experience serving in and supporting the United States Navy. His career has been dedicated to improving the operational availability of the Surface and Air-Craft carrier fleet through improving and enhancing the ship material condition through intrusive maintenance and modernization practices.
Paul joined General Dynamics NASSCO in July 2021, serving as the Senior Director of Waterfront Operations for General Dynamics NASSCO Norfolk. He was responsible for the day-to-day operations of all Surface ship and Aircraft Carrier programs, all production trades, material condition and operations of NASSCO’s floating dry dock and for all facilities at the Norfolk and Portsmouth Virginia Yards. In October 2023, Paul was chosen to become the General Manager for NASSCO-Norfolk, leading and managing a diverse workforce of approximately 800 personnel. NASSCO-Norfolk operates four facilities in the Tidewater area, and frequently conducts availabilities at Naval Station Norfolk and Norfolk Naval Shipyard.
Prior to coming to NASSCO-Norfolk to pursue a private ship repair career, Paul served with distinction for over 27 years as a nuclear trained operator in the United States Navy. Paul’s military career spanned all aspects of nuclear carrier operations, maintenance and acquisition. During his naval career, Paul served on the USS George Washington (CVN 73), USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76), USS Gunston Hall (LSD 44), USS Enterprise (CVN 65), USS George H. W. Bush (CVN 77) and was part of the team which delivered the USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78). Paul’s final active-duty tour was as the Director of Ship Materiel on the staff of Commander Naval Air Forces Atlantic.
Paul holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Economics from Rutgers University, a Masters in Engineering Management from Old Dominion University and a Masters in Mechanical Engineering from Naval Postgraduate School. He is an active member with Carrier Team One, serving on the Executive Steering Committee for over seven years, and a board member of the Virginia Ship Repair Association.
Paul lives in Carrollton, Virginia with his wife Dorothy and their two children.
