OSHA 10 Hour Maritime Industry Course (March 3-4)

The OSHA 10 Hour Maritime Industry course awards the 10-Hour certification card and meets all of the mandated regulations for the Maritime Industry (OSHA Code of Federal Regulations 29 CFR 1915) course in a format that specifically addresses the challenges and environmental conditions specific to the shipyards. In addition, shipyard specific regulations and issues are covered in depth. Instructors are authorized by OSHA endorsed certification programs. Cards are issued through the Instructor's certifying body. All book, material and certification costs are covered in the course fee.

Human Resources Committee Meeting

Our next HR Committee meeting will be on Wednesday, March 5, when we’ll welcome two speakers from the Virginia Employment Commission, who will address both ends of the employment relationship.  One speaker will discuss the various services and options the VEC has to provide our member companies in finding and hiring good new employees best suited to the needs of their workplace, and the other will provide our members tips and advice on how to be most effective in responding to and contesting former employees’ unemployment compensation claims received by the VEC.  This presentation is certain to be of value to every one of our members, so I very much hope you will be able to join us!
