Our topic will be staying out of trouble when you have workers in other states, either permanently or on a temporary basis.  Our speakers will be Brian Winterstein from Principle Strategies and Chris Abel and Mike Collett from Willcox & Savage.  Mike will focus on key landmines to avoid in the employment law of other states where our member companies often have people working, Brian will address particular problem areas when you have workers in California, and Chris will speak on how to avoid legal headaches when paying your workers per diem.  We hope you will be able to join us!

Contracts Committee Meeting

The Contracts Committee will meet the first Thursday of each month at 8:30 a.m., at the VSRA Offices, 101 W. Main Street, Suite 5500 (5th Floor East), Norfolk, VA  23510.  We are located in the World Trade Center building.

Parking is available in the Town Point Parking Garage on Main Street directly across the street from the World Trade Center building.  Please bring your parking ticket with you for validation.

Safety and Environmental Committee Meeting

Introduction to Blueprint Reading & Technical Drawing (July 15-19)

This course is designed for rising welders, pipefitters, ship-fitters, electricians and workers who need a working knowledge of blueprint technology, symbols and design features specific to ships.

OSHA 10 Hour Maritime Industry Course (July 22-23)

The OSHA 10 Hour Maritime Industry course awards the 10-Hour certification card and meets all of the mandated regulations for the Maritime Industry (OSHA Code of Federal Regulations 29 CFR 1915) course in a format that specifically addresses the challenges and environmental conditions specific to the shipyards. In addition, shipyard specific regulations and issues are covered in depth. Instructors are authorized by OSHA endorsed certification programs. Cards are issued through the Instructor's certifying body. All book, material and certification costs are covered in the course fee.

Shipboard Cableway Inspection (July 23-25)

This course is under the oversight of HII Technical Solutions and upon successful completion attendees will receive a NAVSEA Cableway Certification card. The cableway program provides NAVSEA Cableway training and certification to students.
