Qualified Rigger Training (March 1)

Provides training and testing for students to receive rigger qualification status in compliance with Federal 1926.1404(r)(1) and 1926.1425(c)(3)

NAVSEA Cableway (March 4-8)(rescheduled)

This course is under the oversight of AMSEC and upon successful completion attendees will receive a NAVSEA Cableway Certification card. The cableway program provides NAVSEA Cableway training and certification to students.

NSRIC

The National Ship Repair Industry Conference will be held MArch 4th-7th, 2012 in Washington D.C. This conference is presented throiugh the partnership of the Shipbuilders Council of America and the Ship Repair Associations, including VRSA. Please register early, space is limited.

Security Committee Meeting

The Security Committee meets the first Tuesday of every odd month at 10:00 a.m. at the VSRA Office, 101 W. Main Street, Suite 5500 (5th Floor East), Norfolk, VA  23510.  We are located in the World Trade Center building.

Standard Items (March 6-7)(CANCELLED)

This 2 day course covers all pertinent  Standard Items as well as changes, areas that are frequently cited or misunderstood, how to source information and what can be expected in future changes. This course is often cited by students as being very applicable to their jobs and contains information they will use immediately upon return to the wok site.

NAVSEA Basic Paint Inspector Course PREP (March 11-13)

This is perfect for workers who are going to attend the NBPI certification class or who need to retake the course/exam.

Blueprint Reading & Technical Drawing (March 12-15)(Cancelled)

This course is designed for rising welders, pipefitters, ship-fitters, electricians and workers who need a working knowledge of blueprint technology, symbols and design features specific to ships.

Emergency First Response (March 13)

Emergency First Response training is OSHA approved and internationally accepted.  This course meets the OSHA Guidelines CFR 1910.151 compliance standards for workplace safety.

Emergency First Response REFRESHER (March 14)

This is a 1/2 a day refresher course from 7:30am to 11:30am. The EFR Refresher course meets OSHA Guidelines 29CFR 1910.151 compliance standards for workplace safety.

VSRA is one of the few organizations authorized to instruct this very specialized course.

2013 SBRCD (Shipbuilding, Repair and Maritime Career Day Event)

OSHA 10 Hour Maritime Course #7615 (March 26-27)

The OSHA-10 hour course awards the 10-hour certification card and meets all of the mandated regulations for  Maritime Industry (OSHA Code of Federal Regulations 29 CFR 1915) course 7615 in a format that specifically addresses the challenges and enviromental conditions specific to the shipyards. In addition, ship yard specific regulations and issues are covered in depth. Instructos are authorized by OSHA endorsed certification programs. The completion card is valid for 5 years at which time the course must be repeated. Our instructors an OSHA accepted certified to conduct this class and grany the award of certification cards. Cards are issued through the Instructor's certifying body. All book, material and certification costs are covered in the course fee.

VSRA General Membership Luncheon Meeting - MOVED to 3/26/2013

VSRA Board of Directors meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month, followed by a lunch meeting with the general membership. The Chairman of the VSRA Board and the VSRA committee chairs report to the general membership at the monthly meeting, followed by a guest speaker's presentation. Each member company may have its designated representatives present at the general membership monthly luncheon meeting and is welcome to invite company guests.
