Shipboard Cableway Inspection (May 13-15)

Monday, May 13, 2024 - Wednesday, May 15, 2024, 7:30 AM - 7:30 AM

This course is under the oversight of HII Technical Solutions and upon successful completion attendees will receive a NAVSEA Cableway Certification card. The cableway program provides NAVSEA Cableway training and certification to students.

Emergency First Response training is OSHA approved and internationally accepted.  This course meets the OSHA Guidelines CFR 1910.151 compliance standards for workplace safety.

This is a 1/2 a day refresher course from 7:30am to 11:30am. The EFR Refresher course meets OSHA Guidelines 29CFR 1910.151 compliance standards for workplace safety.

Cybersecurity Committee Meeting

There is no May Cybersecurity Meeting.

In lieu of the May Cybersecurity Committee meeting, we are recommending and encouraging attendance at the following events:

  • TASC and TGIC Cybersecurity Exchange Briefing will take place on May 22nd from 8:30am – 11:30am at the Old Dominion University Darden Center and ONLINE. Panelists will include Mr. Patrick O'Donnell, Kaufman & Canoles, Government Contracts Group, Ms. Theresa Duvall, Lecturer, School of Cybersecurity, Old Dominion University & Internship Chair for Coastal Virginia Center for Cyber Innovation, Ms. Tracy Gregorio, CEO, G2 Ops, Inc., and Mr. Greg Tomchick, President, Valor Cybersecurity. This promises to be an great opportunity to gain insights and exchange knowledge with industry peers. Your participation in this event is highly encouraged. There is no charge to attend the exchange briefing.
  • AFCEA Hampton Roads Maritime IT Summit, scheduled for June 4-6 at the Hilton Norfolk The Main Hotel. This summit is a premier gathering for professionals in the field of maritime IT with a focus on the Navy. The agenda is being prepared by the Department of Navy CIO (DONCIO) in collaboration with AFCEA. There is a fee  to attend the summit.

Your active involvement in these events will enrich your own understanding of cybersecurity and CMMC requirements and also contribute to the broader community dialogue on these critical issues. OSHA 10 Hour Maritime Industry Course (May 28-29)

Tuesday, May 28, 2024 - Wednesday, May 29, 2024, 8:00 AM - 8:00 AM

The OSHA 10 Hour Maritime Industry course awards the 10-Hour certification card and meets all of the mandated regulations for the Maritime Industry (OSHA Code of Federal Regulations 29 CFR 1915) course in a format that specifically addresses the challenges and environmental conditions specific to the shipyards. In addition, shipyard specific regulations and issues are covered in depth. Instructors are authorized by OSHA endorsed certification programs. Cards are issued through the Instructor's certifying body. All book, material and certification costs are covered in the course fee.
