Assistant Facility Security Officer I

Position Title: Assistant Facility Security Officer I (AFSO)

Summary of duties – Perform a variety of tasks associated with the management of a successful industrial security system.

Specific description of duties:

  • AFSO I will focus on completing tasks in accordance with the National Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM 32 CFR Part 117).
  • Provide support with clearance processing, clearance verifications, and visit requests through DISS/NBIS
  • Provide guidance and assistance to facility personnel and interface with the Defense Security Service (DSS). This includes NISS/DISS account management, maintain existing and initialize new personal security clearances, and process/handling a large volume of visit requests.
  • Provide assistance with initial, refresher and foreign briefings.
  • Maintain a Security Awareness Training Program
  • Report any and all suspicious contacts
  • Report to DCSA all adverse information
  • Assist/support the FSO with all security-related tasks including maintaining database, updating DISS, visit requests, responding to security inquires training, briefings and annual DSS facility self-inspections and Security Audits.
  • Continue professional development knowledge and keep abreast of the inner
  • workings in the field of security.
  • Perform any other assignments or tasks as needed or requested by management to assist in accomplishing the organization’s mission, objectives and goals.

Education / Specialized training

  • High School/GED Required
  • Degree in relevant field of education or two years relatable Industrial Security experience.
  • Previous Maritime Industry experience beneficial
  • Position requires US citizenship and must have an active DoD Secret Clearance.
  • Ability to operate standard DoD security databases and tools, including DISS, NISS, and eApps.
  • Must have completed the following Industrial Security Management Courses in accordance NISPOM 32 CFR Part 117.12 (d):

Qualifications
1) Must have strong organizational skills and be detail oriented.
(2) Must be proficient in Microsoft office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook), Auto Cad, SUPDESK, DELTEK/ T&E Costpoint, SilkRoad/RedCarpet Onboarding, Joint Personnel Adjudication System (JPAS), E-QID and ENPOL/STEPP.
(3) Excellent oral and written communication skills, which include problem solving and analytical skills.
(4) Self-starter with minimum supervision.
(5) Manage document control for classified material, knowledgeable of NISPOM requirements.
(6) Drug screen and background check are required.
