Quality Control Integrator

Job Summary

The Quality Control Integrator is an administrative and engineering position primarily supporting quality control for clean work in SCI's controlled areas and clean room. Additionally, the Quality Control Integrator is responsible to the Director of Quality in maintaining and supporting QMS processes. They will ensure all calibration equipment used for clean work is operated IAW documented procedures and conforms to the customer’s requirements and specifications. They will build and maintain relationships between customers and companies of SCI’s Diver Life Support Systems (DLSS) program, provide technical support and act as a liaison for tasks performed under SCI’s DLSS and OICR programs as a subject matter expert.

 

Roles and Authorities

  • Has oversight of the clean room final inspection and in-process inspections
  • Review documents and procedures for compliance with commercial and government standards
  • Support the Director of Quality and coordinate with the clean room production manager
  • Support the Director of Quality for any non-conforming activities within the scope of SCI’s combined QMS
  • Verify equipment is calibrated, cleaned and maintained clean in accordance with applicable requirements
  • Ensure personnel are trained for the duties they perform- including substitutes when regular personnel are absent
  • Provide technical advice to customers and other departments within the organization
  • Assist the ISO/IEC 17025 Quality Manager with a laboratory proficiency testing program
  • Review all applicable documented information for correctness and completeness
  • Support business development as the subject matter expert to further expand SCI’s DLSS services to cover routine maintenance, system alterations, overhauls, and manufacture of DLSS systems and ancillary equipment 
  • Interact with DoD and commercial activities as the subject matter expert and maintain good customer relations with the diving community/technical authorities
  • Act as the primary liaison between the clean room and the quality assurance department to maintain accreditation/certification
  • Has the authority to ensure all work performed within the scope of SCI’s combined QMS meets customer requirements including stop work authority for quality & safety.
  • Review, and ensure compliance to, customer issued documentation such as statements of work, master service agreements, or purchase orders
  • Ensure conformance of the on-site calibration program to applicable standards

Quality Responsibilities

  • Monitor corporate communication and follow updates to the quality manual, quality policy documents, work instructions and advanced cleaning procedures
  • Ensure clean room team members remain informed with changes
  • Communicate company values through words and actions to enhance employee growth
  • Verify associated equipment, property and work areas comply with military standards, commercial standards, and SCI procedures
  • Review work load and coordinate with the clean room production manager to schedule in-process and final inspection 
  • Monitor rejection rates and initiate corrective actions as required
  • Interact with customers, certification activities, and regulators regarding department quality 
  • Identify training needs and provide recommendations to the Director of Production & Services
  • Assess departmental training effectiveness; determine the impact on employee proficiency and hitting KPI’s
  • Coordinate with the Director of Quality to acknowledge receipt of a customer complaint from any department, provide progress reports, and outcomes to the complainant
  • Coordinate with the ISO/IEC 17025 Quality Manager to ensure technical audits of the oxygen instrumentation clean room to verify traceability of standards and compliance with published standards and guidelines
  • Support Director of Quality with tasks to achieve cross-functional business goals for technical operations, sales, and customer service

 Experience / training requirements

  • Military E-6 to O-3 (preferred), with experience supporting DoD diving commands, with DLSS Quality Assurance and re-entry control knowledge (minimum of 5 years’ experience)
  • Experience with clean room operation and procedures required
  • Extensive knowledge of applicable military standards including MIL-STD 1330, 1622, and 767
  • Oxygen Equipment Cleaning and Calibration Course (CIN) A-670-0046 (military) completion is preferred (but not required)
  • Oxygen Systems Cleanliness Instructor Training (Trident Refit Facility) completion is preferred (but not required)

Safety

Environment

Work in a clean room environment that has a low level of environmental pollutants such as dust, particles and chemical vapors. Appropriate steps to avoid contamination should be utilized at all times including:

  • Shower in the morning on days you will enter the clean room
  • Do not use cosmetics, hairspray, perfumes, or colognes prior to working in the clean room
  • Wear appropriate attire under your clean room personal protective equipment (skirts, high-heel shoes, shorts, in some cases, short sleeve shirts, excessive lint or static electricity producing clothing are not appropriate attire.)
  • No eating, drinking, or chewing per department requirements       

Travel

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.

 

Physical/General requirements

  • Ability to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes weighing up to 50lbs up to 8-10 hours per day    
  • Ability to work on and climb ladders and stairs frequently
  • Bending/squatting/kneeling/stooping/crouching/crawling/twisting up and walking up to 8-10 hours per day
  • Standing- must be able to stand or sit in one place up to 8-10 hours per day
  • Hearing-periodically must be able to work in loud environments
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Must be able to pass a drug screening test
  • Satisfactory background check for compliance with regulations and on-site entry standards enforced at customer sites
