Electrical Controls Technician

We are seeking an Electrical Controls Technician/Electrician to join our team.

Responsibilities:

· Assist the Electrical Superintendent in the setting up and breaking down of temporary lighting and power distribution systems in shipyard environments

· Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical equipment ranging in voltage from 12VDC to 480VAC

· Troubleshoot and repair commercial industrial equipment, to include abrasive blasters, dehumidifiers, heaters, Ultra High Pressure (UHP) pumps, air conditioners, air compressors, vacuums, and other equipment as required

· Design modifications and implement changes to control logics when needed

· Read and interpret wiring diagrams and technical manuals

· Occasionally support and/or perform electrical work in residential and commercial environments

· Perform other duties as assigned

Experience:

· 4+ years of electrical troubleshooting experience

· Basic knowledge of electrical theory in alternating and direct current (AC/DC)

· Knowledge of motor controllers and their operation

· Strong affinity for, and ability to perform troubleshooting, demonstrate analytical thinking, and utilize problem-solving techniques

· Demonstrated success in locating and correcting faults in motor controllers

· Ability to utilize technical manuals and publications as well as online resources as needed

· Experience in residential and commercial electrical work is not required, but desired

Desired:

· Military experience with a technical vocation is a plus

· Experience in machinery or mechanical work is a plus

Electronics engineers design and develop electronic equipment, such as broadcast and communications systems—from portable music players to global positioning systems (GPS).
Education
Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, or equivalent experience
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years experience in electronic systems development
Bachelors degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent experience
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to develop schematics, layouts, BOM, write technical specifications, develop device and system level specification for internal use and/or external vendors or consultants

Experience in the Following:
Design of complex power systems, analog/digital, PLC, sensory/control circuits
Experience working with electro/mechanical technicians for parts and system integration
Interface with outside vendors, consultants, and driving external design resources
Proficiency in development of schematics and layouts
Proficiency in use of AutoCAD and or Inventor 3D modeling and collaboration
Knowledge of electrical codes and related regulations
Organize, analyze, interpret, and evaluate electrical engineering problems and prediction of results
Estimate labor or material costs from blueprints or work plans
Work cooperatively with others
Review or check the work products of others to ensure conformance to standards
