Quality Assurance Representative

Job summary

The Quality Assurance Representative is an administrative and engineering position assisting the ISO/ IEC 17025 Quality Manager and Calibration departments. This role applies measurement science, mathematics, and physics to evaluate calibration records, technical documentation, procedures, and test equipment to identify measurement issues and ensure the laboratory consistently fulfills accuracy and precision requirements for the following measurement areas: electrical, dimensional, optical, physical, mechanical, environmental, chemical, and/or precision cleaning.

 

Primary roles and responsibilities

  • Review and approve certificates, reports, and other documentation for service activities.
  • Perform analysis of results and conditions, and report evaluation of data to laboratory and quality management.
  • Use skillsets to work independently and/or as a team contributor to develop methods, concepts, procedures and techniques to support tasks directly related to organizational business goals for technical operations and quality functions.
  • Review calibration procedures and methods, according to detailed specifications, blueprints, drawings and other technical requirements.
  • Analyze measurement data for identifying abnormalities or trends.
  • Ensures appropriate revision control and retention of records, as required.
  • Assist ISO/IEC 17025 Quality Manager in the evaluation, and response of corrective and preventative action requests.
  • Assist the Quality Program Manager or Director of Quality in the performance of internal or external audit activities.
  • Coordinate with the ISO/IEC 17025 Quality Manager to ensure compliance with the Quality Management System.
  • Provide liaison between the laboratory and Quality department head.
  • Is accountable for non-conforming activities.
  • Serve as a leader and set an example of embodying the principles of SCI’s Quality and Safety policy.

 

Additional roles and responsibilities

  • Consult with Calibration Lab Manager and ISO/IEC 17025 Quality Manager for continuous process improvement initiatives.
  • May perform other laboratory related activities, as directed.

 

Education / Training requirements

  • Military precision measurement equipment laboratory (PMEL/ TMDE) certified or an associate degree in an applied physical science or engineering field and more than four years of experience in calibration and metrology for DoD, oil and gas, energy or related industries.
  • ISO 9001/ 17025 standard background preferred.

 

 Additional skills

  • Possess leadership and coaching skills to support and educate junior technical staff.
  • Must be able to understand and interpret statistical data.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new techniques and problem-solving skills related to calibrations; including instrument specifications, process, traceability, uncertainty measurement and safety.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Satisfactory background check for compliance with regulations and on-site entry standards enforced at customer sites, as required.
  • Must have excellent computer/ software skills.
  • Acute attention to detail.

 

Additional requirements

  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to pass a drug screening test.

Environment

This job operates in a professional office and laboratory environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

 

Travel

Travel is not required.

 

Physical requirements

  • Ability to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes weighing up to 50lbs up to 8-10 hours per day
  • Bending/squatting/kneeling/stooping/crouching/crawling/twisting up and walking up to 8-10 hours per day
    • Standing- must be able to stand or sit in one place up to 8-10 hours per day
    • Hearing- periodically must be able to work in loud environments
