Estimator - Maritime Pipe & Structural Construction

We are a leading Ship Repair and Ship Building Construction Company specializing in Firm Fixed Price Bidding within the shipbuilding and offshore construction industries. We are seeking a Project-Oriented Estimator with strong management skills to join our team and support maritime pipe and structural fabrication/installation projects.
Position Summary:
The Estimator will be responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates for maritime pipe and structural projects. This role requires a keen eye for detail, a deep understanding of maritime construction methods, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. The ideal candidate has a background in shipbuilding, or offshore projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze project specifications, drawings, and contracts to develop accurate cost estimates.
- Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs and pricing for labor, materials, and subcontractor costs.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to refine estimates.
- Identify and mitigate potential project risks and cost overruns.
- Develop project schedules and budgets to support bidding strategies.
- Maintain a database of material costs, labor rates, and historical project costs.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations in all cost assessments.
- Assist in contract negotiations and bid proposals.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum 5+ years in estimating maritime pipe and structural construction projects.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD, Navisworks, ShipConstructor, or similar software preferred.
- Project Management: Strong ability to handle multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously.
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with ABS, USCG, and NAVSEA standards is a plus.
- Analytical Thinking: Strong mathematical and problem-solving skills.
- Communication: Ability to collaborate with clients, vendors, and internal teams effectively.
- Education: Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred, but equivalent experience will be considered.
