Senior Electrical Engineer (REMOTE)

Job brief 

As a rapidly growing small business, we are looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer who is able to provide quality deliverables and help grow our business.  The Sr. Electrical Engineer will plan, review, and approve engineering drawings as well as interface with the client.  Ultimately this person will be responsible for engineering deliverables for the US Navy, MSC and USCG. 

 If you also have excellent people skills, marine HM&E experience, exemplary work ethic and an excellent understanding of the US Navy, USCG and MSC ship systems, we’d like to meet you. 

Responsibilities 

  • Working as a team plan, review, and approve ship designs and engineering drawings to ensure they comply with regulations and international maritime safety standards.
  • Perform Electrical Engineering analysis using a variety of engineering tools. 
  • Quality Assurance of all engineering deliverables. 
  • Client facing. 
  • Develop drawings in AutoCAD. 
  • Assist the PM in business development and customer relations. 
  • Expect 10% domestic and international travel. 

Requirements 

  • 5+ years of proven experience in the review and evaluation of commercial vessel design plans or shipyard working experience.
  • Existing knowledge and understanding of industry practices and requirements. 
  • Must be technology-focused with a good background using and implementing technology into business processes. 
  • Proven history interfacing with the client. 
  • The ability to mentor Junior Engineers.
  • Outstanding organizational and leadership abilities. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills. 
  • AutoCAD experience. 
  • Must work onsite for the first four straight weeks before being able to work remote. 
  • Must be available on-call M-F between 0900 and 1500 EST.
  • ABET-accredited BS in Electrical Engineering or a current Professional Engineer's License.
  • Secret level security clearance or the ability to obtain a clearance.

Schedule and Work Location:  

M-F.  Onsite in Washington DC for the first month and then remote.

Information
Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

Education
5 years relevant experience with Bachelors; 3 years relevant experience with Masters. An additional 4 years of specific job experience with a HS diploma may be substituted for the Bachelor's degree requirement for this job. This experience is in addition to the relevant years of experience listed with the job's education requirements. Example: If this job required a Bachelor's degree + 5 years relevant experience the equivalency would equal HS diploma + 9 years job related experience.
Qualifications
Strong background in communications; fiber optics; electrical/electronic components; generators; AC/DC and high/low voltage theory and application. Thorough knowledge of the installation and maintenance of electrical/electronic components; working knowledge of Key Management Infrastructure.
