There was an overcast on the morning of Tuesday October 20, 2020 with a cool breeze coming off the Chesapeake Bay as volunteers and staff arrived to set up for the 34th Annual Virginia Ship Repair Foundation Golf Tournament. Soon, the total cloud cover lifted at Bayville Golf Club and golf was in full swing for the day.
We had beautiful weather as the golfers checked in with the volunteer staff at registration and received their lunch and commemorative items in celebration of the 34th year. It was a perfect day to tee off at 12:00 and enjoy the afternoon on the course. Later, golfers rolled in with score cards and high hopes of winning many fantastic golf items and door prizes. Congratulations to HII-Fleet Support Group in winning first place. Coming in second was Integrity Staffing Services and Capitol Finishes placing third.

It was no surprise that all 144 golfer slots sold out. What was surprising is that it sold out in record time - less than 24 hours with full sponsorships! 56 out of 295 VSRA member companies were sponsors, contributors, participants or volunteered. This year we were able to secure 66 door prize items and 17 big ticket items for the golfers. As a new addition to the tournament, Prism Maritime sponsored an unforgettable experience with Charity Golf Guns, which helped to raise an additional $1,000+ for the Foundation!
All told, the event raised more than $60,000 to benefit the Virginia Ship Repair Foundation, which focuses on community outreach, industry awareness, and workforce training and development. Know that your Association and Foundation Boards are both indeed totally focused on recruiting and developing tomorrow’s ship repair workforce. Your sponsorship and involvement have helped go a long way toward achieving this goal.
Thank You for making this the number one, sought-after tournament year after year! Be sure to mark your calendar for October 19, 2021 for the 35th annual tournament!
