Congresswoman Jen Kiggans, U.S. Representative for Virginia’s 2nd District
The Virginia Ship Repair Association is pleased to announce that Congresswoman Jen Kiggans (VA-02) will be the featured guest speaker at the March General Membership Luncheon, taking place on Tuesday, March 18, 2025.
Congresswoman Jen Kiggans proudly serves Virginia’s Second Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives, which includes Virginia Beach, the Eastern Shore, part of Chesapeake and Southampton, Isle of Wight, Suffolk, and Franklin City. In Congress, she serves on the House Armed Services, Veterans’ Affairs, and Natural Resources Committees.
Jen is a proud Navy veteran, Navy Wife to her husband Steve, and mom to their four amazing children who motivate her every day to fight for a stronger future for Virginia and our nation as a whole.
Prior to public office, Jen served 10 years as a U.S. Navy helicopter pilot flying H-46 and H-3 helicopters and completing two deployments to the Persian Gulf. She is a tireless advocate for the military community and is a leading voice for them in Congress. After serving in the Navy, Jen went to nursing school and became a board-certified Adult-Geriatric Primary Care Nurse Practitioner. She worked in several long-term care and nursing facilities in Virginia Beach and Norfolk and served as a primary care provider for a small private practice in Virginia Beach.
After years of growing frustration listening to politicians on the evening news and watching as division and negative rhetoric derailed legislative progress on issues important to her family and her community, Jen took her experience of working with a team to accomplish the mission at hand to Richmond. She served three sessions in the Virginia State Senate, where she successfully championed legislation to establish a Military Spouse Liaison and advocated for patients, families, and caregivers in long-term care facilities. She joined Congress in 2023 and is currently serving her second term representing Virginia’s Second District.
Jen is a fierce advocate for the shipbuilding and ship repair industries, knowing that both are vital not only to her district’s economy and workforce, but also to our national security. She believes that investing in our shipyards and fleet is vital to maintaining a strong naval industrial base and restoring military deterrence on the world stage. Jen is committed to improving and investing in shipbuilding and ship repair in Hampton Roads and across the country.
Jen is determined to bring civility and competence to politics – something she believes is severely lacking in all levels of government – and provide Virginians with the strong, independent leadership in Washington they deserve.
