The Security Committee met on September 11, 2012. The committee worked with VSRA staff to put together a Security Choices presentation for high school and university students. At their meeting in July, Regional Security had stated that Common Access Cards (CAC) would eventually be scanned at base entry points and probably would happen sooner than expected.  Pilot Card Scanning - In addition to the Rapidgate credential scanning, CNIC is conducting a pilot program to test the capability to scan and authenticate the Common Access Cards (CAC) and Teslin cards (Dependents and Retirees) at entry control points at Naval Station Norfolk.  This means they will scan every card but will not use the results of the scan for an access denial decision at this time.   This pilot program will end on October 31, 2012.  The next Security Committee meeting will be held Tuesday, October 9th, 2012 at 10:00am at NASSCO-Earl (former United Coatings Bldg.) 650 Chautauqua Avenue, Portsmouth.   Our guests will be from Norfolk Ship Support Activity (NSSA); Mr. David Shutter, Mr. John Johnson, and Mr. Danny Powers.
