Leadership Course (November 6-8)

VSRA has partnered with Virginia Wesleyan University to provide a 2-and-a-half day Leadership course, upon successful completion attendees will receive a Certificate of Completion from Virginia Wesleyan University sponsored by the VSRA.

Our next HR Committee meeting will be on November 6, when we’ll welcome two speakers from the Virginia Employment Commission (VEC), who will address both ends of the employment relationship.  One speaker will discuss the various services and options the VEC has to provide our member companies in finding and hiring good new employees best suited to the needs of their workplace, and the other will provide our members tips and advice on how to be most effective in responding to and contesting former employees’ unemployment compensation claims received by the VEC.  This presentation is certain to be of value to every one of our members, so I very much hope you will be able to join us!

Veteran's Day (Observe) (VSRA Office is Closed)

The VSRA office is closed today in observance of Veteran's Day.

OSHA 10 Hour Maritime Industry Course (November 11-12)

The OSHA 10 Hour Maritime Industry course awards the 10-Hour certification card and meets all of the mandated regulations for the Maritime Industry (OSHA Code of Federal Regulations 29 CFR 1915) course in a format that specifically addresses the challenges and environmental conditions specific to the shipyards. In addition, shipyard specific regulations and issues are covered in depth. Instructors are authorized by OSHA endorsed certification programs. Cards are issued through the Instructor's certifying body. All book, material and certification costs are covered in the course fee.

VSRA General Membership Luncheon Meeting

VSRA Board of Directors meetings are held on the odd numbered months. The General Membership Luncheon meetings are held every month.

Safety and Environmental Committee Meeting

Cableway Improvement Program (CIP) Installation, Repair and Inspection (November 18-22) CANCELLED

This course is under the oversight of HII Technical Solutions and upon successful completion attendees will receive a NAVSEA Cableway Certification card. The cableway program provides NAVSEA Cableway training and certification to students.

Emergency First Response Certification (November 20) - CANCELLED

Emergency First Response training is OSHA approved and internationally accepted.  This course meets the OSHA Guidelines CFR 1910.151 compliance standards for workplace safety.

Emergency First Response Refresher (November 20) - CANCELLED

This is a 1/2 a day refresher course from 7:30am to 11:30am. The EFR Refresher course meets OSHA Guidelines 29CFR 1910.151 compliance standards for workplace safety.
