OSHA 10 Hour Maritime Industry Course (March 4-5)

The OSHA 10 Hour Maritime Industry course awards the 10-Hour certification card and meets all of the mandated regulations for the Maritime Industry (OSHA Code of Federal Regulations 29 CFR 1915) course in a format that specifically addresses the challenges and environmental conditions specific to the shipyards. In addition, shipyard specific regulations and issues are covered in depth. Instructors are authorized by OSHA endorsed certification programs. Cards are issued through the Instructor's certifying body. All book, material and certification costs are covered in the course fee.

Cableway Improvement Program (CIP) Installation, Repair and Inspection (March 11-15)

This course is under the oversight of HII Technical Solutions and upon successful completion attendees will receive a NAVSEA Cableway Certification card. The cableway program provides NAVSEA Cableway training and certification to students.

VSRA QMB and Quality Assurance Committee meetings will be combined for all future meetings. VSRA Quality Assurance Committee members are invited to participate in both sessions. The first portion of the meeting will be the QMB session with MARMC representatives. Once the MARMC representatives have been released, the QA Committee portion of the meeting will follow.

Ship repair is a 6.4 billion dollar industry in Hampton Roads – and provides career opportunities for more than 60,000 workers in the region! The Virginia Ship Repair Foundation is sponsoring a LEGO Ship Repair Industry Awareness Competition for middle school students. The purpose of the competition is to promote ship repair industry awareness, while increasing student’s competitive mathematical, analytical and conceptual skills.
