OSHA 10 Hour Maritime Industry Course (February 6-7)

Tuesday, February 06, 2024 - Wednesday, February 07, 2024, 8:00 AM - 8:00 AM

The OSHA 10 Hour Maritime Industry course awards the 10-Hour certification card and meets all of the mandated regulations for the Maritime Industry (OSHA Code of Federal Regulations 29 CFR 1915) course in a format that specifically addresses the challenges and environmental conditions specific to the shipyards. In addition, shipyard specific regulations and issues are covered in depth. Instructors are authorized by OSHA endorsed certification programs. Cards are issued through the Instructor's certifying body. All book, material and certification costs are covered in the course fee.

Shipboard Cableway Inspection (February 12-14)

Monday, February 12, 2024 - Wednesday, February 14, 2024, 7:30 AM - 7:30 AM

This course is under the oversight of HII Technical Solutions and upon successful completion attendees will receive a NAVSEA Cableway Certification card. The cableway program provides NAVSEA Cableway training and certification to students.

Introduction to Blueprint Reading & Technical Drawing (February 12-16)

This course is designed for rising welders, pipefitters, ship-fitters, electricians and workers who need a working knowledge of blueprint technology, symbols and design features specific to ships.

Workforce Development Committee Meeting

Wednesday, February 14, 2024, 10:00 AM

The meeting’s topic is Marine Trades Training (MTT); the program's goals and benefits to the maritime industry, a high-altitude overview down into the 'nuts & bolts' of MTT, and a training provider's perspective as to offering Marine Trades classes at a participating community college. Representatives from the Virginia Ship Repair Association, the Hampton Roads Workforce Council, and Virginia Peninsula Community College will provide informative presentations, answer questions about the Marine Trades Training program, and introduce us to the ongoing efforts and initiatives focused on how to take this valuable trade skills training endeavor to the next level in preparing a maritime workforce of tomorrow for the Hampton Roads region today.

Emergency First Response Certification (February 15)

Emergency First Response training is OSHA approved and internationally accepted.  This course meets the OSHA Guidelines CFR 1910.151 compliance standards for workplace safety.

Emergency First Response Refresher (February 16)

Friday, February 16, 2024, 7:30 AM - 7:30 AM

This is a 1/2 a day refresher course from 7:30am to 11:30am. The EFR Refresher course meets OSHA Guidelines 29CFR 1910.151 compliance standards for workplace safety.

VSRA has partnered with Virginia Wesleyan University to provide a 2-and-a-half day Leadership course, upon successful completion attendees will receive a Certificate of Completion from Virginia Wesleyan University sponsored by the VSRA.
