VSRA Board of Directors meetings are held on the odd numbered months. The General Membership Luncheon meetings are held every month.

Workforce Development Committee Meeting

This meeting’s topic is the Accelerated Training in Defense Manufacturing (ATDM) program sponsored by the Institute for Advanced Learning and Research, and funding assistance opportunities for maritime employers and the funding assistance programs currently offered by the Hampton Roads Workforce Council (HRWC). Mr. Justin Scarce of ATDM will provide a presentation and host a question-and-answer session with meeting attendees. This will then be followed by a presentation about funding assistance programs and information for maritime businesses applying for this assistance in support of the professional development of current and newly hired employees of the maritime industry. Ms. Kaneesha Scott of HRWC's Business Services department will provide a presentation about funding assistance and information as to the application process. Members of the audience will then have an opportunity to ask questions about this program.

Emergency First Response Certification (August 15)

Emergency First Response training is OSHA approved and internationally accepted.  This course meets the OSHA Guidelines CFR 1910.151 compliance standards for workplace safety.

Emergency First Response Refresher (August 15)

This is a 1/2 a day refresher course from 7:30am to 11:30am. The EFR Refresher course meets OSHA Guidelines 29CFR 1910.151 compliance standards for workplace safety.

Cableway Improvement Program (CIP) Installation, Repair and Inspection (August 19-23)

This course is under the oversight of HII Technical Solutions and upon successful completion attendees will receive a NAVSEA Cableway Certification card. The cableway program provides NAVSEA Cableway training and certification to students.

OSHA 10 Hour Maritime Industry Course (August 19-20)

The OSHA 10 Hour Maritime Industry course awards the 10-Hour certification card and meets all of the mandated regulations for the Maritime Industry (OSHA Code of Federal Regulations 29 CFR 1915) course in a format that specifically addresses the challenges and environmental conditions specific to the shipyards. In addition, shipyard specific regulations and issues are covered in depth. Instructors are authorized by OSHA endorsed certification programs. Cards are issued through the Instructor's certifying body. All book, material and certification costs are covered in the course fee.

NAVSEA Basic Paint Inspector Course Prep (August 21-23)

This is perfect for workers who are going to attend the NBPI certification class or who need to retake the course/exam.

NAVSEA Basic Paint Inspector Certification (August 26-30)

VSRA is one of the few organizations authorized to instruct this very specialized course.

Communications Committee Meeting

This month, we will be exploring potential marketing investments for the upcoming year, focusing on strategies to engage more future companies and increase our involvement with the VSRA. Additionally, we'll discuss opportunities for volunteer work, particularly with back-to-school initiatives, as well as the production of the VSRA 101 course video.
