Security Committee Meeting

Our guest will be MARMC Industrial Security; John Johnson, Garret Hiller, Jocelyn Perkins and Dakota Jackson, along with new staff members, MacKenzie Duplisea and Bobby Reed.  Also joining us will be Robert Baldwin and Chad Coffin from Norfolk Naval Shipyard (NNSY) Industrial Security.  Come on out and meet the new MARMC Industrial Security team members!  We’ll also discuss the newly released Ship’s Visit Request (ShVR) spreadsheet, installation access and ship access for non-US persons and much more.

Human Resources Committee Meeting

Our September 4th meeting’s speaker will be Patricia Gibson from the Urban League of Hampton Roads.   Ms. Gibson will address strategic use of diversity initiatives in talent acquisition and employee retention on the waterfront—a topic of genuine interest to all of our member companies.  We’re eager to hear what Ms. Gibson has to share and we very much hope you will be able to join us for this informative session!

Contracts Committee Meeting

Our presentation at this meeting will be by Ms. Stacey Cooper, Deputy of Small Business Programs at Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center.  Stacey will discuss small business opportunities and programs both at MARMC and across the Government.

Immediately following the meeting, we will convene a smaller group to plan the Committee’s Fall Seminar Series presentations.  Please plan to join us if you would like to offer suggestions for this year’s seminars or contribute to them as a presenter or panelist.

Quality Assurance Committee Meeting

VSRA QMB and Quality Assurance Committee meetings will be combined for all future meetings. VSRA Quality Assurance Committee members are invited to participate in both sessions. The first portion of the meeting will be the QMB session with MARMC representatives. Once the MARMC representatives have been released, the QA Committee portion of the meeting will follow.

This forum seeks to engage everyone who has a stake in building, repairing, sailing, innovating, updating, training, fighting, and winning on or from the sea on a US or allied military vessel. We are stronger when people with different backgrounds, education, jobs, trades, and experience discuss issues and solutions facing the fleet.

OSHA 10 Hour Maritime Industry Course (September 17-18)

The OSHA 10 Hour Maritime Industry course awards the 10-Hour certification card and meets all of the mandated regulations for the Maritime Industry (OSHA Code of Federal Regulations 29 CFR 1915) course in a format that specifically addresses the challenges and environmental conditions specific to the shipyards. In addition, shipyard specific regulations and issues are covered in depth. Instructors are authorized by OSHA endorsed certification programs. Cards are issued through the Instructor's certifying body. All book, material and certification costs are covered in the course fee.

Cybersecurity Committee Meeting

We are excited to welcome Mr. Brian Biven, Director of the NAVSEA Cyber Planning and Response Center (CPRC), NAVSEA 03, as our guest speaker for the next meeting.

Mr. Biven will discuss key threat topics and provide a summary of the free cyber services and solutions available through DC3/DCISE, NCIS, and the NSA. Additionally, he will review what constitutes Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and how items destined for ship repair facilities should be marked. Attendees will learn what to look for, specifically regarding Distribution Statement D information.
