On the beautiful morning of October 19th, 2023, the 37th Annual Virginia Ship Repair Foundation Golf Tournament at the Cypress Point Country Club went into full swing and mirrored the triumphs of its previous outings.
In a display of unwavering support, all 148 exclusive golfer slots were claimed within 3 minutes of the registration launch, a new record for our tournament. Additionally, we had much support from the backing of 57 out of 322 member companies, who participated as sponsors, contributors, or volunteers, showcasing their dedication to the Foundation's efforts.
As the bright and sunny day progressed, all of you that participated did not let up. The golfers' motivation and drive were met with a delightful array of door prizes provided by our esteemed sponsors. A special note of gratitude was extended to Bay Metals & Fabrication, LLC for their generous contribution to a captivating grand prize: $2500 credit towards a Virginia Golf Vacation. Congratulations to all those who won any of the door prizes.
The post-golf social gathering saw heartfelt acknowledgments from Kevin Terry, the Chairman of the Board, who graciously recognized the unwavering commitment of sponsors and volunteers, including and most notably Leigh Kennedy for her 36th VSRF Golf Tournament she’s assisted with. The day culminated in a nice meal and placement prizes, with Electric Motor & Contracting Co., Inc. claiming the first-place honor, closely followed by Titan Talent Development, LLC securing an impressive second place, and Wilson Pipe & Fabrication LLC taking third place.
The tournament tries to stand as a symbol of the industry’s dedication to fostering ship repair awareness, supporting workforce training and development, and extending outreach initiatives. The Virginia Ship Repair Foundation remains indebted to the collective efforts of patrons, sponsors, and volunteers whose unwavering support continues to elevate the event's impact each passing year. We could not do this event and others without you, so thank you dearly.
As the sun set, we hope there was anticipation for the 38th Annual Virginia Ship Repair Foundation Golf Tournament after the success of this year’s tournament. With preparations for the 2024 edition set to commence in the coming months, enthusiasts and patrons are encouraged to mark their calendars for the early February launch of registration. We are excited to reconnect once again next year to celebrate our competitive spirit with the love of golf, but also our support of this industry with its longevity and health.
