Committee Reports

VSRA's Committees are open to all members and meet regularly to discuss a range of topics pertinent to the industry. Active participants in these committees are recognized as leaders both in their specific areas of expertise and in the committee structure. Members are encouraged to engage in these meetings to not only share their knowledge but also to collaborate on addressing mutual concerns, shaping the association's positions, and developing educational content for the broader membership.

We'd like to share details on recent and upcoming committee information and we encourage your involvement.

  • Communications - Chair: Zebedee Hamilton (Tidewater Staffing)
    Next Meeting: June 26th, 2024
    The Communications Committee is continuously discussing improvements to our outreach potential, upcoming events, the newsletter and more. Minutes of previous meetings are available at the committee's webpage on the VSRA website. Additionally, we'd like to welcome Zebedee Hamilton as our new Communications Committee Chair.

  • Contracts - Chair: Tony Mazzeo (Woods Rogers Vandeventer Black PLC)
    Next Meeting: August 1st, 2024
    The Contracts Committee had continued their "How To Do Business With" series, with East Coast Repair speaking in June. Minutes are available at the committee's webpage on the VSRA website. Additionally, the Contracts Committee is about to start planning the annual Contracts Seminar Series.   • Cybersecurity - Chair: Tracy Gregorio (G2 Ops)
    Next Meeting: June 27th, 2024
    The May meeting for the Cybersecurity Committee was cancelled, and the next committee meeting will be held virtually on June 27th.

  • Human Resources - Chair: Chris Abel (Willcox Savage)
    Next Meeting: July 3rd, 2024
    The Human Resources Committee had their last meeting on June 5th, where Natalie Starks from the OSHA Whistleblower Protection Program presented to those in person and onlineMinutes are available at the committee's webpage on the VSRA website.

  • Quality Assurance - Chairs: Dennis Robbins (MHI Ship Repair and Services) and Mark Salladay (Colonna's Shipyard)
    Next Meeting: September 10th, 2024
    The Quality Assurance Committee had their committee meeting with QMB prior on May 14th. Minutes for this meeting are posted on the committee's webpage on the VSRA website.

  • Safety and Environmental - Chairs: Larry Ryan (MHI Ship Repair and Services) and Donna Watkins (General Dynamics NASSCO-Norfolk)
    Next Meeting: July 11th, 2024
    The Safety and Environmental Committee had their last meeting on May 9th, where the Safety and Health Seminar, safety suggestion, and Multi-Cable Transits was discussed. Minutes are available at the committee's webpage on the VSRA website.
    The committee also hosted a 4-hour Environmental Workshop on June 5, 2024, which went fantastic with a great turn out of people like you. Discussing how the workshop went and improvements that could be done to make it an annual part of the committee will be discussed at the next committee meeting.   • Security - Chairs: Leigh Kennedy (General Dynamics NASSCO-Norfolk) and Neil Burns (MHI Ship Repair and Services)
    Next Meeting: July 2nd, 2024
    The recent Security Committee meeting on May 7th with guests from NNSY, Robert Baldwin and Chad Coffin, had many talking points including the newly authorized camera-enabled PEDs in specific areas, DBIDS, and others. Minutes are available at the committee's webpage on the VSRA website.

  • Workforce Development - Chair: Tim Richardt (Hampton Roads Workforce Council)
    Next Meeting: August 14th, 2024
