Job Summary:
The Bookkeeper is responsible for managing the financial records of the organization, ensuring accuracy in all entries made into QuickBooks, and supporting the overall financial health of the business. This role will involve daily bookkeeping tasks, financial reporting, and assisting with audits and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- General Bookkeeping:
- Record day-to-day financial transactions and complete the posting process in QuickBooks.
- Reconcile bank statements and credit card accounts monthly.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
- Financial Reporting:
- Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Generate financial reports and assist the President in interpreting the data to inform decision-making.
- Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Payroll Management:
- Process payroll accurately and in a timely manner.
- Ensure compliance with payroll regulations and tax laws.
- Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Assist in the development and monitoring of the annual budget.
- Provide financial analysis and forecasts as needed.
- Compliance and Audit Support:
- Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and company policies.
- Assist with internal and external audits by preparing necessary documentation.
- Data Entry and Maintenance:
- Ensure accuracy of all entries in QuickBooks, including invoices, payments, and receipts.
- Maintain organized financial files and records.
- Communication:
- Collaborate with the President on financial strategy and planning.
- Communicate effectively with vendors, clients, and other stakeholders regarding financial matters.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Stay updated on best practices in bookkeeping and accounting software.
- Identify opportunities for improving efficiency and accuracy in financial processes.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar role.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks and other accounting software.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Bookkeeper) are a plus.
