Job Summary
The DLA (Defense Logistics Agency) Contracts Assistant utilizes best business practices to increase sales by quickly responding to customer requests for quotes with accurate and comprehensive bids. The position plays a crucial role in building and nurturing customer relationships, primarily focusing on electronic communication channels including email and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. Collaborating with various SCI departments, this role ensures that both internal and external customer needs are met in compliance with contract requirements. A significant focus of this position is managing DLA material procurement contracts, where the assistant is tasked with providing precise quotes to both resellers and direct Government clients, ensuring a seamless transaction process and maintaining the highest standards of customer service.
Role and Responsibilities
- Researches bid opportunities and negotiates contracts to secure necessary goods and services.
- Utilizes various OEM pricing sources to provide accurate quotes.
- Performs basic analyses for single purchase or of multi-year contract awards.
- Performs research on historical pricing and solicitation provisions that affect pricing standards.
- Efficiently creates and manages quotes and sales orders within Sage X3.
- Assess factors like pricing, delivery schedules, previous performance and financial reliability to secure advantageous deals.
- Meets or exceeds monthly and annual sales targets; utilizing various reports to track progress/status.
- Investigates and resolves customer issues or concerns and initiates steps to mitigate and avoid future occurrences.
- Builds, manages, and advances strong business relationships with new and existing customers.
Educational / Experience requirements
- A.S. (B.S. Degree preferred) in business or technical field or equivalent experience in related field.
- At least 3 years’ experience in professional procurement and solicitations including but not limited to complete contract package documents and relevant provisions.
- Working knowledge of supply chain management.

- Ability to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes weighing up to 25lbs
- Bending/squatting/kneeling/stooping/crouching/crawling/twisting up and walking up to 8 hours per day
- Standing- must be able to stand or sit in one place up to 8 hours per day
